OzDocs is an exciting new citizen science project run by a climate research group at the University of Melbourne and we need your help!

To plan for future changes and variability in Australia's climate we need more information about what has happened in the past and that's where you come in.

Our small research team is working hard to recover weather and climate information from historical documents but it is an enormous job and we could really use your help.

Here's how it works:
  1. Sign up as a volunteer
  2. Read a document such as a newspaper article or meteorological table (provided online)
  3. Answer some questions and extract some information from the document
  4. Move on to the next document!

Each document usually takes about 5 minutes to finish and you can save your progress at any time to continue later. Whether you help us with one document or hundreds we welcome any contribution that you can provide.

OzDocs volunteers are already digging up detailed accounts of droughts, floods, bush fires, locust plagues and there’s so much more waiting to be discovered. You can find out more about volunteering and ask other volunteers questions via our forum.
